An unknown disease has killed more than 1,000 cows at
Chepareria division, South Pokot, since May.
Local farmers have raised the red flag, saying efforts to
contact extension officers have been futile.
Speaking in Chepkobe yesterday, former councilor Lopeiyi
Yaromket said the cows contracted the disease in Uganda,
where pastoralists went in search of water.
Farmer Ameringole Yarangor said the symptoms are cows'
bleeding through the nose and muzzle and general body
weakness.
