Govt revitalizes rice production #angola

The advisor of the office for Food Security of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Waldemar
Morais, last Wednesday in Cuito City, central Bié Province,
manifested his optimism about the increase of rice
production in the country, mainly in the current agricultural
season.
Speaking to ANGOP, on the fringes of a seminar on
observers in agrometeorology, which started last
Wednesday in Cuito City, the official stressed that in the
2012/2013 agricultural campaign the country produced
37,608 tons of rice.
He said the Angolan Executive has been working to
revitilise rice production, having foreseen a good harvest in
the current agricultural season, especially in the provinces
of Huambo, Bié, Cuando Cubango and Moxico, further
stressing that in short term Angola will be able to reduce its
rice import.
The seminar is analysing themes related to
agrometeorology, elementary definition of the term,
equipment set up, soil preservation, vegetal physiology,
among other topics and concepts.
