Farmers who failed to provide their banking details when
they delivered grain to the Grain Marketing Board depots
between April and July this year can now collect their
money from Zimpost offices across the country, the
parastatal has said.
In an interview, GMB corporate communications manager
Mrs Muriel Zemura said farmers must bring their
identification particulars.
"Only farmers whose names appear on the grain receipt and
with valid identification including a national identity card,
driver's licence or valid passport are required to come and
claim their money in person from any of the post office
points.
"However, those farmers who provided their bank details
will continue to be paid through their banks and that there
will no longer be hard cash payments to farmers," she said.
The price per tonne this year has been pegged at $390
including for small grains like sorghum, millet and rapoko.
