Leopard kills 7 sheep #kenya

FARMERS in Naivasha have threatened to kill wild
animals. This is after a leopard raided Salome
Wanjiku's home at Karate village and killed seven
sheep.
A resident said the leopard found its way into the
shed through an opening bit the seven sheep on
their throats. "Wanjiku is distraught as she had
used so much in rearing the sheep only for them
to be wiped out in minutes," he said.
He said efforts to track the wild animal hav failed
on several occasions. "We have lost more than
20 sheep and goats to this leopard. We shall hunt
it down and kill it as KWS has failed to help us,"
the resident said. Last month another farmer lost
eight sheep in similar manner.
Rose Kamau said she incurred huge
losses."Several homesteads have been attacked
by leopards that have killed tens of sheep and
goats. It is time action was taken," she said.
Chief Michael Kiratu confirmed that cases of
human-wildlife conflict in the area are on the
increase. He urged residents not to take the law
into their hands.
"In the recent past this area has come under
attack from buffaloes and leopards but we are
working with KWS to fully address problem," he
said.
