The Bornu State
Government said on Friday that it
would slaughter 540 bulls and
share to the less privileged in the
forthcoming Sallah celebration.
Mr Inuwa Bwala, the
Commissioner for Information in
the state, said in a statement in
Maiduguri that the bulls would
be shared to the less privileged
in Maiduguri and Jere Local
Governments.
"Gov. Kashim Shettima has in the
spirit of the Eid-el-Kabir,
approved the distribution of 540
bulls to cater for the less
privileged.
"The bulls will be shared to the
residents of Maiduguri and Jere
local governments of the state",
he said.
Bwala said that a committee had
been set up by the government
to ensure equitable sharing of
the bulls to the beneficiaries.
"A committee comprising
religious leaders, traditional
rulers and officials from the two
councils has been constituted to
work out modalities for effective
distribution of the bulls.
The commissioner said the
committee would ensure that the
meat got to the people.
'The state governor urges
residents and beneficiaries to
conduct themselves in orderly
manner."
