The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and
Development (AECID) has released Akz 40 million for the
implementation of an agricultural project in the locality of
Kuzi, some 13 kilometres northeast of Mbanza Congo,
northern Zaire province, Angop learned Tuesday here.
The information was released by the head of the Gender
Department of the Agency for Planning and Coordination of
the New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad),
Rosalie lo Ndeye.
The official was speaking on the site of the project, after a
meeting with beneficiary rural women.
Called "Happy Woman", the project comprises a programme
of preparation of lands for farming and distribution of seeds
to benefit 81 local rural women, and is designed to ensure
food security and self-sustaining of rural families.
The Nepad official travelled from South Africa to learn on
the spot about the implementation of the project that started
two years ago, covering an area of 62 hectares.
