The Ministry of Industry and Trade wishes to remind all
businesses, exporters and the general public that the export
of maize and maize products was banned in accordance
with the Control of Goods Act, Cap. 18:08 of the Laws of
Malawi. The Ministry further wishes to inform the general
public that the ban has not been lifted and, therefore,
remains in force.As such, no person is allowed to export
maize and maize products to other countries.
Accordingly, anyone found exporting maize and maize
products in contravention of this ban will be liable to
prosecution in accordance with the provisions of the
relevant Laws of Malawi.
The Ministries of Industry and Trade, Home Affairs and
Internal Security, Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and
other Government Institutions will re-enforce their
monitoring and inspection exercises to ensure nobody
violates this ban.
