Tobacco farmers contracted by Mastermind Tobacco Ltd on
Monday demonstrated at Kehancha town over unpaid dues.
Migori farmers are demanding close to Sh100 milion from
the firm, including crop bonuses after selling their crops on
January.
They have given the firm one week to pay the eight-months
arrears failure to which they will go to court. More than
1,500 contracted farmers at Kehancha leaf centre, led by
their representatives, said the delay in payment has affected
them adversely.
They said they are unable to pay fees for their children and
prepare for the next planting season.
