Preparation starts for National farmers' day #tanzania

AUTHORITIES in Dodoma and Singida regions
have agreed to hold a Nane Nane Central Committee
meeting for the Central Zone today in the municipality here.
A statement issued by Dodoma Regional Administrative
Secretary, Ms Rehema Madenge, noted that the meeting will
be held in Sanju Park Hall located at Nane Nane grounds at
Nzuguni area.
The Tanzania Agriculture Support Organization (TASO)
Central Zone Secretary, Dr Samson Muniko, said here
recently that preparations for this year's National Farmers'
Day are going on smoothly.
He called upon people to take part with a view to learning
how to improve their farming methods, adding that Nane
Nane exhibition on livestock keeping will be held at national
level in Dodoma while on agriculture it would be conducted
at zonal level.
"People coming to the Nane Nane expo will be able to
improve their skills in farming and livestock keeping," he
said.
Dr Muniko noted that it had been a trend by many people to
visit Nane Nane pavilions just for fun instead of taking it
seriously as a place to learn new and modern farming
techniques.
He noted that Dodoma was privileged to host the exhibition
on livestock keeping at national level for four years
consecutively, calling on the residents here to take it as a
golden opportunity to learn.
He also noted that best breeds of animals would be on
display and various experts would be available to educate
people for free.
Dr Muniko noted that despite being held at zonal level, the
agriculture show will also be of very high quality and people
will have the opportunity to learn various modern
agricultural techniques from experts.
Nane Nane fairs are a national event celebrated to mark
farmers' contribution to the nation's economy. They also
provide an opportunity for farmers and other stakeholders to
exchange knowledge and engage in business deals.
Nane Nane fairs are usually held in seven zones, namely
Northern (held at Arusha), Eastern (Morogoro), Lake
(Mwanza), Highlands (Mbeya), Southern (Lindi and Songea)
, Western (Tabora) and Central (Dodoma) from August 1 to
8 each year.
This year's celebrations are expected to be held at national
level in Lindi Region.
