Angola produced in 2013 about 1.6 million tons
of cereals, which represents over 50 percent of the amount
projected by the National Development Plan for that year.
According to the document made public last Friday, in
Luanda, by the National Cereals Institute (INCER), at a
roundtable on Models of Development for Rural Women, a
great deal of the mentioned production comes rural
women's activities.
The document from INCER states also that the deficit in
cerals in Angola is estimated at three million tons, with the
current production reaching about 1.5 million tons.
"The current production only covers 40 per cent of the
country's consumption needs, a figure that might change to
90% in the next three years, having into the accounts the
numbers in the 2013-2017 National Development Plan",
reads the note.
