Al-noimi distributes rice, sugar to muslims #gambia

Al-Noimi Charitable Organisation, a non-profit-making and
non-governmental organisation recently distributed 450 and
bags of sugar and 345 bags of rice to the communities of
Salikenni and Jammeh Kunda, in North Bank Region and
Sukuta, Brusubi and Tujereng, in the West Coast Region. In
an interview with Daily Observer, the manager of Al-Noimi
Chartable Organisation, Sekou Saho, said that the aim of
this gesture is to help the poor farmers, particularly during
rainy season when food becomes a major problem. "It all
started by an individual who had the vision of helping the
needy people at his native village of Salikenni," he revealed.
Saho maintained that the laudable gesture has been
ongoing since 1984, adding that the initial target group was
not more than 11 households.
"At the end of every month, the donor would set aside
certain amount of money which would be distributed during
rainy season to the said target group in a form of rice,
sugar, and dried fish," he disclosed. The donation, Saho
noted, came at a time when the number of people who
wanted help from the donor had increased. According to
him, the donor then explained the situation to Mohamed Al
Noimi, a closed friend and a classmate at Loughborough
University, where both of them were pursuing their MSc in
Information and Knowledge Management. "Al Noimi Qatari,
who works as hospital administrator decided to take the
entire responsibility, by providing funds for this good cause
in every year during rainy season," Saho disclosed.
He thus said that Al-Noimi generosity is not only limited to
the farmers and the needy, but has renovated many Islamic
Schools in the country, mosques and recently built a New
Mosque in Gunjur in Kombo South.
