Kwara Laments fish scarcity- Daily Trust
Residents of Kwara State have continued to complain over non-availability of fish in the market, occasioned by the strike embarked upon by frozen food sellers under the aegis of Cold Room Association.
Daily Trust gathered that the fish sellers embarked on strike following what they called arbitrary price increase by suppliers from Lagos State.
The warning strike which started on Wednesday last week was planned to last for a week, but it was called off after three days, it was gathered.
General Secretary of Cold Room Association, Kwara State, Mr. Tunde Adesina told our correspondent that the strike was called off on Saturday following slight reduction in the prices by the suppliers.
Explaining why the association embarked on the strike, he said: "Our resolution to go on strike was to protest the increase in fish price. Our suppliers arbitrarily increased the price by about 150 per cent and we were not happy about it. They have brought down the price though it is still expensive. They brought it down to about 80 per cent and we have now decided to call off the strike
