Fayose tackles Fayemi over poultry comment #nigeria
Former Ekiti State governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose has described Governor Kayode Fayemi's comment on the poultry project initiated by his administration as reckless and sub-judice.
Fayose in a statement by the Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO), signed by its Director of Publicity and Research, Mr Idowu Adelusi, said he was not ready to join issues with the sinking and outgoing Fayemi administration because the governor was supposed to know that he was not permitted by law to comment on any matter already in court.
Governor Fayemi had asserted in some national dailies that the poultry project of Fayose administration was not designed to succeed and would amount to a waste of money to resuscitate it by his administration because it was not viable.
The statement said that Fayemi lacked correct information about the project and, therefore, referred him to the project file which is supposed to educate and guide him on the scope of work done before the project was stopped by the EFCC.
It also stated that Fayemi was being intimidated by the rising profile of Fayose and the preparedness of the PDP to send him out of the Government House, adding that AFCO would not want to comment on a matter that is pending in court.
"Actually, Fayemi is only playing politics by that comment and it is a sign that he is restless, but we can't help him. The APC government has to go", the statement said.
It added that Fayemi never made uncomplimentary remarks about the poultry project when he begged Fayose to support him to win the rerun election in 2009.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Ambassador Dare Bejide has said that the party is capable of winning back its lost members if only credible candidates would emerge through a transparent process.
Bejide, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the party, while speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, was of the view that PDP members who have left the party did so out of fear that their principals might be schemed out.
The former Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada, therefore, urged his party to take advantage of the pending elections in 2014 and 2015 to win lost members back to its fold by fielding credible and acceptable candidates for the various elective positions.
