Farmers certified after soil conservation course

The community of Toubakuta village in Kombo East has donated ten bags of coose to the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP) as part of the community's support to the foundation. The ten bags of coose were the produce of the community's farming activity last year. Officials of the JFP, Ward councilors and the people of the village attended the presentation ceremony held at Toubakuta central store on Saturday. The alkalo of the village, Karafa Bojang said since the inception of the partnership between the foundation and his village, they have benefitted from its support both in the areas of health and agriculture. He described President Jammeh, the founder of JFP, as a generous leader, who always has the heart to support Gambians in every aspect of life. Nuha Kujabie, the chairman of the Toubakuta Village Development Committee (VDC) , said since President Jammeh made his clarion for call for Gambians to 'go-back-to-the land', the young people and women of Toubakuta have been increasingly heeding the call. Kujabie however called on the authorities to support them with farming equipment such as a tractor and threshing machine which will enable them produce more in subsequent farming seasons. The VDC chairman used the opportunity to thank the young people and women of the community for their commitment during the farming season. The deputy CEO of JFP, Modou Lamin Manga, told the gathering that President Jammeh established the foundation to support Gambians. He thus called on the people of Toubakuta and the entire country to support President Jammeh's initiatives for robust national growth and development. He went on to describe agriculture as the sector that has the potential to bring about rapid socio-economic development in the country. While commending the people of the community for the initiative, Manga equally urged the gathering to maintain peaceful coexistence amongst themselves. Alhagie Kujabie and Isatou Tuku Nyassi, the Ward councilors of Kafuta and Giboroh respectively lauded the people of the village for their foresight to support the JFP and the entire Gambian populace. The two Councilors told the people of the village that their donation would assist many people in hospitals, describing it as complimentary to government's efforts.
