Diversified exploration of agricultural products needed

The need of diversifying the agricultural production, both for food purpose and production of bio-fuels, was encouraged on Thursday in the central Huambo province, during the workshop on the aforementioned subject. Speaking about the Law on Bio-fuels, the member of the committee responsible for the project, Chicaia Francisco Afonso, said that it is necessary to combine efforts so as to implement the strategy of development of this sector in line with diploma. Chicaia Francisco Afonso said that the diploma establishes the general bases for boosting the cultivation of sugar cane and other plants, with a view to their use in the production of bio-fuels. According to her, the law applies to the medium and large-scale agro-industry and agricultural producers that could sell their products for this purpose. To him, there are also tax and customs incentives provided for this activity. The Bio-fuels committee is comprised by the ministries of Oil ( Chair), Economic Coordination, Agriculture and Rural Development, Fisheries, Justice, Geology and Mines, Energy and Water and Environment. The event was attended by technicians from the provinces of Benguela, BiƩ, Cuando-Cubango, Huambo and Kwanza Sul, as well as experts from the Ministries of Oil and Environment.
