Pastoralists warnded over encroaching #kenya

Naivasha subcounty commissioner Mohammed
Abass has warned pastoralists seeking pastures
in the area to respect private land. This comes as
hundreds of herders from the neighbouring
Kajiado and Narok counties trooped around Lake
Naivasha in search of pastures for their animals.
Abass said anyone breaking the law risks arrest.
"Some of the pastoralists are on their way to
Laikipia while others are on their way back to
Kajiado and Narok as the areas have now
experienced rains," he said.
James ole Kirusi, a herder, said: "By the time we
left Kajiado there were no rains and we have been
forced to seek pastures around Naivasha."
Naivasha district veterinary officer Dr Enos
Amuyunzu said they are keenly monitoring the
arrival of the livestock, which is a concern to
them, as the quarantine is still on.
