Maize production to drop #kenya
Maize production has dropped by more than 10
million bags this year due to spread of crop
diseases and bad weather. Farmers are expected
to harvest about 32 million bags which will reflect
a decline from more than 42 million bags last
year.
A report from the Ministry of Agriculture says the
Maize Lethal Necrosis Disease affected production
in most counties in the Rift Valley region which a
high producing area.
Director of the Kenya Farmers Association
Kipkorir Menjo says the govt should release
money to buy maize from farmers to avoid acute
shortages.
