ZIMBABWE gives Tobacco awards
MORE than 20 farmers are
expected to walk away with
prizes at the Tobacco Sales Floor
grower of the year award next
week. The grand prize will be a
tractor while other winners will
receive different farm
implements, inputs and other
consolation prizes. One of the
farmers is Zimpapers group chief
executive, Mr Justin Mutasa who
grew 12 hectares of tobacco and
sold 37 389kgs of tobacco at US$
4,43 per kg last season.
TSF managing director James
Mutambanesango said there are
three categories of winners in
the tobacco grower competition.
"We have the small scale, medium
and large scale tobacco grower
of the year. There are six winners
in the small scale category, six in
the medium and four in the large
scale sector," he said.
Mr Mutambanesango said there
will be prizes for four TSF loyal
farmers; those who have been
consistently delivering their crop
to the floor and other
consolation prizes will be won
through a raffle. "This year we
have the woman tobacco grower
of the year where two
outstanding women tobacco
growers will walk away with
prizes," he said.
