Sh120m FOR FARMERZ#kenya

Nzoia Sugarcane farmers in the sugar belt will be
paid Sh230 million out of the Sh320 arrears owed
by Nzoia Sugar Company next week, Agriculture
Secretary Felix Koskei has said.
He said he has directed the Kenya Sugar Board to
release the funds immediately and the parastatal's
staff are now at NSC carrying out an analysis of
farmers' accounts in readiness for the payments.
Koskei said the balance of Sh105 million will be
paid out later. The arrears have accumulated for
the last seven months after the company was
unable to pay contracted farmers who delivered
their sugarcane
