Project to enhance subsistence agric launched #angola


The minister of Family Issues and Promotion of
Women (Minfamu), Filomena Delgado, last Friday
in Canaúlo locality, Golungo Alto Municipality, in
the northern Kwanza Norte Province, launched an
agricultural project dubbed ?Horta Familiar?
(Family Vegetable Garden) which is aimed at
supporting initiatives in family farming and
reinforcing the diet.
ANGOP has learnt that the programme, which
counts on the partnership of the United Nations
Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the
Agriculture Ministry, is part of the actins outlined
in Minfamu's development plan for the 2013/2017
term and it is mainly designed to assist rural
women.
Speaking in the launching ceremony of the
project, Filomena Delgado explained that this
move is aimed at reducing the level of
malnutrition being recorded in women and
children that live in rural areas.
The project is intended to cover over two million
peasant families countrywide, aiming for the
strengthening of food security. It is to include the
provision of technical assistance to peasants
