HONEY: Honey is the most common product associated with bees. Its widely known and used in various parts of the world. Close to 80% of honey consists of sugars readily absorbed by the body, which makes it good for children. Its used as a sweetner, in medicine, beer, wine, its also used for the treating of many diseases.
A total of 1,250,000 tonnes, 19% of which came from the tropics was recorded, with Europe being the largest yield.
Climatic variation, specie, skills, and vegetation are some of the factors affecting the yield of honey.
Commercial honey production is not on a much pronounced level as most beekeepers produce locally, hence an opportunity for any interested in apiculture.
