Dangote announced to build a 9bn sugar processing factory in Kebbi State. Dangote
explained that a steady electricity supply will also
be supplied to the area to facilitate development,
with the construction of a 150MW power plant
being planned in the state.
“For establishing companies or industries, there
should be steady power supply in order to make
the company efficient and effective in the state
and the country at large,” Dangote said.
The company president added that he hoped the
planned processing facility would help the state
reduce its unemployment level.
“I believe that this will create about 75,000 job
opportunities in the state and also will cost over
US$9bn,” he commented.
Dakigari said that more than over 80,000
hectares of land have been earmarked for
cultivation of the sugarcane and that the land will
cut across four local government areas, including
Bagudo, Suru, Koko Besse and Shanga.
